New York!

We have had a fantastic time in New York. On Wednesday we visited The World Trade Centre and took some time to look down on to Ground Zero. The Statten Island ferry enabled us to view the Statue of Liberty from the water and to marvel at the incredible buildings that make up Manhattan. In the evening we gave a short concert at the New York HQ of HSBC on Fifth Avenue. A good number of Old Decanians and friends of the choir and school gathered for food, wine and music. Mr and Mrs Jonathan Lancashire and Mr and Mrs Taylor hosted the event on behalf of the school, and Mr Paul Lawrence, a Dean Close parents and CEO of HSBC New York hosted on behalf of the bank. We were on the top floor; the back-drop was simply stunning.
This morning, I was able to enjoy a run in Central Park, before we boarded the coach for the long journey down to White Marsh, Gloucester, Virginia.

  1. Don't forget to send my love to Bobby and Skip, and try not to enjoy the "riverside hospitality" too much ;)

  2. Charlotte and I are back home safely. We celebrated with some very nice wine - I do hope you manage to find some in VA. We were astounded how 'dry' it was in NJ and NY! I'd like to add how brilliant the choir both sounded and looked when we saw them. A credit to BN and DCPS. All mums, dads, grans, grandads etc should be proud of their boys/men. AB x

  3. Dear All,
Rory also home safe and sound. Many many thanks to you all for allowing him to join you, and looking after him so well. A Big Thank you to Mr Etherington for getting him home. We're off to Gatwick now for our ski holiday! It's such a hard life for 12 year olds these days. (Hasn't he got exams soon?)

  4. Hi Dougie,
Thanks you for sending your news. I can't believe you've been in New York! What a wonderful time you're having. Adam and Toby will be jealous that you went to the world's biggest toy shop. We are planning to visit London this weekend from friday to sunday and are staying at the same hotel we went to before by the Tower of London. The plan is also to visit Hamley's (which used to be the largest toy shop in the world!) so Adam can choose his own birthday present. Toby also wants to get something for you.
It's been great seeing your photos on the blog! Good luck with with the rest of your trip.

I hope this message gets to you ok.
    Loads of Love
    Mum.
